One thing or another…just not feeling my best. Oh, I suppose I could complain about everything that’s happened to make me feel that way, but truth is, it’s not all that interesting. Not even to me. So, I’ll spare you.
I did start a little on Connecticut Fantasy, but given my decrepit condition, I’m taking it slowly. One of the things that I love about Connecticut are the wildflowers (or weeds, depending on your point of view), that grow there. So, I’ve started with some Queen Anne’s Lace and the start of some daylilies. A piece at a time. I think, after all these years of drawing for the market, I’ve finally found a way to have fun doing art again. Takes a while, but it’s worth it.
Without further ado, here’s the very beginning, a glimpse of the wildflower in progress.
Evidently, the charity that I send my drawings to had a problem with its venue…so my work will be sent back. Maybe they’ll find someplace else in the future.
But in the meantime, more about “Connecticut Landscape Fantasy”. Sometimes, I like to do a composition based on real places, but in a free-flowing mode, using typical elements of that place. In the past I did one of the Oregon Coast, which has since been lost. Here’s an example I do have, it’s called “Merritt Parkway Fantasy”, which I did many years ago. For those of you not in the area, it is a main highway in Connecticut. Sorry, picture a little fuzzy.
I know it’s been a while. Life, no actually Facebook, got in the way. You know, you can neglect a lot of important things getting caught up in the drama of your friends. I went cold turkey for a couple of days, and now I visit infrequently. So, as a result, I finished the full-size “Pocket Paradise”. I’m quite pleased with it.
I’ve decided that since I don’t have the money to be a philanthropist, I’ll do what I can with my art. More charitable donations, more pro bono work. I’m still very interested in leaving the world a better place for me having been here. Maybe this is the way to get art to heal.
This is the website for the organization the winged horse is for;
Doing some work for my friend’s charity….here’s a sketch of a winged horse. It’s being revised to have a little girl on the back, and lettering :Jessica Rekos, Angel of Sandy Hook. It’s a start.
I’m starting on a new healing project. A friend and her daughter are starting a new project. The story goes like this:
My friend’s daughter was giving riding lessons to a young girl named Jessica. Unfortunately, she was killed in the Newtown, CT massacre. So, in her memory, we are raising funds to give riding lessons to underprivelidged children. So, “Cloud Over Greenwich” will have it’s title changed to “Jessica’s Home”. We will be offering full-sized prints. When this becomes available, I will post a link.
