Finding Peace in Art During Tough Times

I haven’t had a lot of time to do artwork. I’ve been tied up with end of life responsibilities. Wow! What a lot there is to do when someone kicks the bucket! I decided to take out burial insurance so that no one will be in a bad situation when I go.

Sometimes, I think that my artwork gives me a distraction from all sorts of stress in my life. So, I did the drawing above very slowly, when I had a chance.

In the meantime, I realize I’ve done another drawing of trees! That’s for the girl in middle school who asked me why I draw so many trees.

There is a bit of a backstory behind this. My boyfriend and I went to visit some friends in another state. It was a four hour drive each way, so I spent a lot of time looking out the window.

It was a magical time of year, when the leaves are opening, and still a shade of chartreuse, mixed with the pink of nearby flowers. I also looked closely at the landscape, and realized that the texture could be express with cross hatching.

So, Everybody! Happy Memorial Day! Happy Spring1
