What A Card!

I’ve always wondered where the term card came from, to describe a witty person. No, I haven’t always wondered that, but it was a good excuse to hop on Google. Evidently, the first use of the term in literature was from Dickens, I think it said 1863.

But I’m talking about notecards, greeting cards and the like. My rent has gone up, and I have to make some money. Not to mention my concentration isn’t the best these days, so little works are good to keep busy.

This one I may actually work into a full sized picture. I want to have something more interesting in the foreground. Would you believe it? I was at my brother’s place for Thanksgiving, and the next morning, the sky really was this shade of bright pink! “Red sky in morning, sailors take warning”.

I think Picasso was the one who said, “All artists steal, so steal from the best”. I can’t say I’m doing that here, I’m stealing for myself.

And then there’s this:

I real quickie. I did this in the time it would take to actually pay my labor for the work I did. The rest, I worked a long time on, despite not being financially rewardable.

But still this is a start, My goal? Put Hallmark out of business!
