Or Merry Christmas if that suits you better
Or Happy Hannakuh
Or Happy Yule…
If I’m leaving anyone out please forgive me. I’ve read that just about all religions have a celebration around now, and I’m not aware of all of them.
But speaking of the holidays, and why I’ve gotten sidetracked:
Last year, at Pony Rides for a Purpose, I donated a gift certificate for a pet portrait. I had just about forgotten about it, since it was over a year ago. However, in my inbox a message shows up….is it too late to do a dog portrait? In time for Christmas?
So, I’ve put the rainbow drawing aside while I work feverishly at the dog portrait, actually two dogs. Literally feverishly, I’ve been fighting the flu. I’ve started a new day job, and have other things in my personal life that are calling my attention. Somehow, I will get this portrait finished in time for Christmas…and my reward? I’ll be able to go back to the rainbow drawing, which I’ve gotten really enthusiastic about.
Here’s a holiday drawing from seasons past:
Now for something completely different…
I’m getting ready for “Pony Rides for a Purpose”, and so is a friend. My good friend will be trying out a walk-around puppet stage. And I give you three guesses as to who painted the scenery for it. You only needed one? Wow!
So, here it is. The light blue square will be cut out for my friend to see out. Forgive the crooked picture, but this thing has got to be about six feet by five feet, and is hard to hold up.
So, if you’re in Connecticut, don’t forget to stop by King’s Bridge Stables, get a portrait, and see my friend’s awesome puppet show!
Finished. Well before the deadline. Now I have some time between this and the canvas for Aidan has a Posse, to do something for myself. The idea of a singer which appealed to me originally, is not clicking, now. Kwan Yin? Maybe…..
Anyway, the finish of “Winged Foal” for Pony Rides for a Purpose.
I’ve been working pretty steadily on the project for the college students, and frankly, I’m getting really bored with it. There’s not too long to go with it, so I decided to take a break and work on the winged foal. Here’s where it stands:
Cheers to Art
As rehoming a tiger, do any of you remember “Tiger in the Jungle’, from last summer? To refresh your memory:
The link above shows where the drawing will be going…..a silent auction to support a children’s garden in Richmond, VA. I still have small print of “Tiger in the Jungle”, that I will be able to sell.
So, sometimes I feel as if I’m bragging when I find a way to use my artwork for healing and good. But then, maybe I’m just taking a little journey, seeing what one little person can do to change the world, however small that change may be. Welcome to my journey.
Finished the Mardi Gras drawing, and renamed it “We went to the Mardi Gras”. That’s because, not only is there a not-so-recent drawing of myself in it, I managed to sneak the man in my life, Richard, into it too.
So, what’s next? I’m planning a drawing for the raffle at “Pony Rides for a Purpose”. It will be a new take on a winged horse.
Also, found a new worthy cause.
Art for ALD
The idea is that as many artists as possible do a painting of a 4″x4″ canvas to be sold for $56. The pictures are only to be signed on the back…this project has some celebrities participating, and the organizers want it to be a surprise to the buyers. So, I won’t post the picture here, only a link to the website, and you can guess. I don’t have an idea yet, and I’m not sure what medium I’m going to use…maybe time to break out those oil paint sticks that I bought but never used.
