Companions
I’ve completed “Companions”. I also viewed a video by Roger Scruton on beauty in art. It gave me a lot to think about. The video is about the purpose of beauty to connect with the divine, and to transcend the tragedies of ordinary life. But how do we decide what is beautiful? I’ve been over…

oh, dear
I’m looking at the ads for artists in Craigslist. They all want “cutting edge”, “raw”, “urban”, and “antagonistic” art. Is it a matter of these being done by young artists, to whom these things still matter? Or am I totally off on what’s the trend today? Here’s an update on the “Companions” sketch. I’ve added…

Happy New Year
The holidays are over, my time off from the museum is mine, again, and it’s time to get back to work. Here’s the next step in “Companions”, the 5×7 colored pencil sketch. Two pieces of my work can be seen in the show “Janus”, at the CCCP gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Address is 38 Marcy…

The holidays
Just to let you know, I’ve been busy working the Xmas rush at the Metropolitan Museum of Art gift shop. It’s been very busy, and I haven’t had time to do artwork or post. I’ll be back after New Years. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
