Sunrise, Sunset

I’ve got a question….why do most artists paint or draw sunsets? I guess it’s the bright colors, especially if over water.

I don’t understand this. A sunrise it as beautiful as a sunset, only in a different way. The colors are subtle and muted. Also, it’s a sign of promise. The dark night is gone, it’s a new day.

I’m waiting for a new shipment of my favorite paper, so I’m not working on anything right now.

This is meant to be a drawing of a house in the sunrise, reflecting the colors of the sky. I guess it’s not the best rendering of that. A friend of mine calls this the “Psycho House”.

Here’s another drawing of a sunrise.

So, why don’t other artists draw sunrises. As for my next drawing:

  1. I like to draw sunsets because I’m just around to see them more…. and so there are more memories associated with them. That being said, I wish I could wake up early enough to watch the sunrise. There’s something different about sunrise, too – the smell, the dew, the freshness.

    1. I understand your feelings about sunsets. Yes, sunsets are beautiful and definitely worth drawing.
