I remember a discussion online by a few professional artists, that when you do artwork all the time,it becomes work….and you need an actual hobby to take a break from it. I never thought that would happen to me, but cooped up in the apartment for a week without doing much but drawing, is not as ideal as I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to stay home and draw all the time, rather than going to a day job, but when I take a break from artwork I really need a break. I don’t have a book to read right now, and the library is a cold, distant journey in this weather. I used to like to bake, but my waistline suffered. Hmmm, maybe I’ll take up knitting.
Which brings me to the finish of “Winter Beach”. The boyfriend looked at it and said, “Is that supposed to be happy?”. For me, yes it is, one of my fondest memories of being young and in love was at a winter beach. Yes, it looks stark, but it’s also sunny and bright.
