A Good Friend Will Never Ask,

“Why are you taking pictures of mud?”

At the gathering I went to last year in Kansas, my good friend didn’t ask me that when she saw me photographing this:

She did look at me quizzically however.  The reason?  To do a better drawing of mud, of course.  Black and white sketch below.

I had a vision for a drawing, actually a series of drawings back last September while I was in Kansas.  Maybe it was the atmosphere of the gathering versus ordinary life, but that idea doesn’t sing to me anymore.  I have gotten to the point where I’m bringing out my store of ideas to work on, just so I’m working on something, because no idea is singing to me right now.
