Okay, then.
Okay, then.
Hi, I haven’t done any art in years, but something stops me whenever I want to start. I feel it may be the fear of being judged. I know it’s silly, but maybe I also have the fear of being healed. I’ve tried the Nike slogan of Just Do it!, but as much as I want to create art again, something stops me.
Do you have any advice for me? Thanks.
Maybe it is the fear of being judged. Remember, you don’t have to show your work to anyone, unless you want to. As for fear of being healed, maybe you should think what about that scares you?
Artwork is hard work. I find that the concentration it takes is exhausting. And yes, there’s the possibility that what you do may be awful…fear of failure.
For me, I find when I’m stuck…the best way is to start really slow. Don’t commit yourself to saying you’ll do artwork all day. That’s both tiring and can be overwhelming. Tell yourself you’ll only do it for 15 minutes. If you do it for that long, you can stop, and feel you’ve done what you set out to do. It should give you some feeling of accomplishment. Or you may find after 15 minutes, that you want to go on.
Another thing I’ve found is sketching helps. Take a small sketchbook with you, and when you have free time…like sitting in a waiting room, just draw anything. Remember, nobody has to see it. I find it gets the juices flowing to do this.
Thank you so much, I took your advice, and it worked. Now all I have to do is keep up the momentum.
Glad it worked!
