I am working slowly on the picture for Coney Island.
Part of the problem is the photo I’m working from, although I’m the one who took it. The detail in the ride in the center is hard to see behind the bars, and I’m having to decide between putting in abstract blocks of color as I see them, or invent and draw the cars to the ride. So, far, I have something penciled in roughly outlining the cars.
Then there’s the matter of adding interest. What is going to make this an interesting drawing, and not just a copy of a tourist (Me) photograph? I have an idea, I’ll be working with, that will show up as I go along.
So here it where it stands now. A rough pencil sketch, with a few ventures into the color.
