Moving right along….

It all started with my friend suggesting I do a picture of the door in this photograph:

And so, because of my life experiences at the time…..it became a picture of a vacant living space, signifying the changes we all go through in life. I meant it to be sad, more of a winsome look at breaking with the past.

But this morning when I looked at it, I thought “Mon Dieu!” (pardon my French), that’s downright cheerful. Then I realized, the flip side of sad changes is new possibilities, and a much more healing way of thinking of change.

Just a note, this is the second time a song moved me enough to influence my work. The first was “Fields of Gold”, a Sting song, for which I produced this:

This time, as a long time Paul Simon fan, I was struck by the song “Dazzling Blue”, so out the door into the unknown I chose to make the color a brilliant blue.

So, without anymore chit-chat, I present: “Moving”

Back to normal…..whatever the Hell that is.

Been a busy holiday in retail, and the whole idea of art and healing got kicked to the wayside.  Now, finally,  if the neighbors would finally take down their Christmas lights, it would be over.

Between my readings on Buddhism, and recent events in my life, the topic of change became an overwhelming force in my life in the last few weeks.  That came along with the drawing of the door I promised my friend I would do.  Somehow, the two came together, and ended up in the theme of moving.  Moving to a new residence, relationship, job, whatever, sooner or later,  everyone’s got to move.

Here’s the 5×7 sketch….eager to start work on the finish.

I plan to do a smoother, more finished floor.  This reminds me of something out of an old run down shed.

Oh, yes, and for you Hannako fans…..here’s a pic of  her eating catnip.
