A WEEK IN THE CLOUD

The week between Christmas and New Years is a little surreal to me. It’s a regular week, but it’s not, it’s time in limbo. Real, but out of the ordinary, like files in the Cloud.

There have been better holiday weeks, than this in 2020. It’s been a rough year, for everyone. People are looking forward to the future, but quite honestly, I think people are looking quite longingly at the past.

So, this is a post about Winter Past

January 2nd

This is my favorite picture of winter. It’s the quiet time after Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Fesitvus, has passed. Even Greedfest,as a good friend used to call it.

I’m thinking of the past in New York City, the City that Never Sleeps, as it sleeps in winter.

We all have memories, both good and bad to look back on. I have faith, that as time passes, we will add to our good memories, even during these rough times.

Happy New Year, Everyone!

HOW Did that happen???

I started to explain how to blog to a friend of mine. I showed her this. When I did, I noticed that I haven’t posted since September 24, 2020. How the hell did that happen? What the hell was I doing all that time.

A friend of mine said on his answering machine message, that he was out to spread joy and chaos among the population. Yes. that’s what I’ve been doing.

I did a finish on “Grey Rainbow”. I had a lovely fable to go with it, here.

It was a bleak fable to go with a bleak picture. It was a bleak season, and 2020 has been a bleak year. Enough bleakness!

I changed my day job. It’s made a big difference.

So, now it’s the holiday season! Bring it on! I’m sending out greeting cards, and wrapping gifts. I’m ready

December’s Over…so is 2014

A good way to start the New Year is to finish what you start, and no, I don’t mean the bottle of vodka.  I finished “Making Peace with December”, this morning.   Here ’tis.

So, one more month of the dreaded winter, gone.   Happy New Year, everyone.  May your 2015 be awesome, fabulous, fantastic…and any other superlative you can think of.

On the subject of New Year’s Eve, I made virgin pina coladas for my Special One and myself.  Somehow, we managed to act as silly as if I put 100 proof rum in them.  But when I woke up………….No Hangover!  Maybe I should sell the recipe, I bet I’d make a fortune.

But back to the subject of healing themes and making peace with wintertime.  Now it’s January, so it follows, that the next drawing should be “Making Peace with January”.

I did do a January piece a couple of years ago.  It’s called January 2nd, because it was my second try at creating it, the first being consigned to the circular file of unsuccessful projects.  Also, January 2 sounds as if it’s a significant date…..the holidays are over and back to regular life.

In case you haven’t seen it:

Indecision is my vocation…

So, the holiday fair is long since over.  Considering the weather, it was okay (in that I didn’t lose too much money).  I did, however, learn a lot from a fellow vendor. Plus a chance to visit with my long time friends…so, it was worth it.

But what has that to do with indecision? Absolutely nothing….as usual, I digressed.  What it does mean is that the time I spent preparing for it is now free…..but my day job is going through the annual terror known as the Christmas rush.

I have only bits and pieces of time to work on my art.  Precious little dribbles of minutes.  It’s not enough uninterupted time to really put into a finished, large work…although I have an idea for one.

So what do I do with these miser portions of time?  Making holiday cards is over, I will make some Valentines,  but I’m not psyched for that yet.  I could work on the sketch of the large work. Or I could just dedicate myself to making some small finished works.

But the time is so meager, that I use it for that great time-waster, Facebook. Really not enough changes with my friends THAT many times a day.

So, while I ponder…here are some drawing from days of Christmas past:
