One More Piece

First of all, I should say a little about this lady.  She also made being ol….a senior, seem less dreary.  She was my partner’s grandmother and lived until nearly 113 years old. (Yeah, I bet you thought I was going to say 113 years young,  Fooled you!  Also, I’m sick to death of that cute little joke)

Anyway, she came from Hungary, through Ellis Island.  Settled in Connecticut.  She lived in her own apartment until she was about 111..  Cooked, cleaned at a time of life most people….are dead, actually.

But back to my drawing.  It’s complete, all of the pieces have fallen together.

No title so far. I’m pretty pleased with it.

Truthfully, I thought it would have made a better drawing if I had left the little dots white.  White clover.  It would have been a more intriguing composition in terms of lights and darks.  However, by the time I realized it, it was too late.  So I continued to make the clover pink.

Odd, some of the my favorite drawings have so little in them…a bit of geometry and some straggly lines.  For instance, this one.

RAINBOWOVERTHETRACKS

So, that brings up the question, which of my drawings is my favorite?  It’s easier to tell which drawings I don’t like.  I know!  My favorite drawing is the next one I’m going to do.

Did someone say something about gargoyles?

After My Tirade About Dogs

Why am I suddenly drawing so many bicycles?  Is it some kind of Freudian thing?

So, there have been two recent drawing of bicycles.  The last drawing I made, and this one:

20181229_204707Is it a wish fulfillment of my unfinished application to the Rhode Island School of Design?  As I think I mentioned, part of the application process was to draw boots and a bicycle.  I wonder if they still do have those drawings to do.  It can’t be that…it’s too long ago, and why now?

Here’s the sketch for the latest one.  So far, the finished work is coming out much differently.

The truth is?  They’s fascinatingly complex and simple at the same time.  Sort of like when I was drawing  jungle gyms

(So where is that jungle gym pic when  I need it?  I’m sorry to disappoint.  It’s probably buried somewhere on my old point and shoot camera, that I disposed of long ago.  I’ll have to retake the picture)

Or bridges:

Or chairs:

OLDROCKERI never realized that the title of the one above is actually a description of me.

But that still leaves the question…why now?

In the meantime, here’s to bicycles!

Stuck!

Between stress on the paying job, and other distractions, I haven’t gotten around to work on the MS Bike Ride. Now that I’m looking at it, I realize I have a lot of two very hard things to draw….figures and bicycles, and realizing figures ON bicycles is doubly hard.
For those of you who have applied to RISD (Rhode Island School of Design, you will remember that drawing a bicycle is one of the requirements of the application. I feel I did a pretty good job, but due to the fact that I was literally crazy at the time, I could not complete my application. Oh, well.

So, I’m starting to plug away at this drawing, without a clue as to what I am doing. Not much to show right now, but I thought I’d let you all know why I hadn’t posted in a while.
