Draw a cat.

That’s my go to when I don’t have any other ideas. The cat drawing I tried to do was going nowhere. It was going along well, until I drew the cat’s front leg. It didn’t go so well. It kind of looked like the cat had a thick tail sticking out of her side. It’s not what I had in mind.

I didn’t have the interest in trying to draw the cat again.

Luckily, I came up with another idea.

I’ve always wanted to try drawing a sky with low lying clouds. This time I tried, I used a particular technique to render it.

Then I thought of the idea of a murmeration, a group of swallows flying in formation. Their flights look like an exotic dance, rippling through the sky.

So, I put together the two subjects and Presto! I have a working drawing.
