Something Great is Coming….

I have a routine to keep track of the approach of spring.  It’s a habit that keeps me going through the dullest months of winter.  It starts with the winter solstice, when though at the season’s darkest, the light begins to return.  Then it gets involved with more popular events…….Superbowl Sunday, Mardi Gras and my favorite, the start of baseball spring training.

I can see that spring is nearly here now.

Thanks to whoever invented laptops

I can’t sit at my desk.  Pumpkin is resting on my desk’s chair, so I took the laptop into the kitchen.  I can’t disturb a resting cat, but I can disturb a computer.  It’s also a good idea that I keep my laptop away from Pumpkin.  He likes to sharpen his claws on the keyboard, and the keys go flying.  My “P”, will never work right, now.

I’m about to unveil the picture I drew of my bratty cat, and as I said before, it’s different.  I still don’t know if I like it, or whether on New Year’s, it will show up on my list of failures.  Never Mind.  Without further ado, “Resting in the Sunshine”.

“It’s Been a Long, Cold, Lonely Winter….”

Everyone is familiar with “Here Comes the Sun” by George Harrison.  I was, however, introduced to the song through this cover:

Peter Tosch….Here Comes the Sun

It was an anthem of a very beautiful spring.

Anyway, back to the present.  It feels as if it’s been a long winter, but it hasn’t.  In fact, the temperature has been unseasonably warm up until a few days ago.  But it has been dark and cloudy.  So, here’s a sketch, done for a change on a blank note card, since I’m out of paper until I get my supply in.

I’m hoping that the cards my sell, whereas the little matted sketches did not.  I’m being true to myself, I’m coming up with inexpensive products from my artwork, that I can sell, rather than slave in retail selling someone else’s.

Oh, my New Year’s resolution?  For my artwork?  I plan to slow down and work more carefully.  In the past, I would do version after version of a drawing until I got it just right.  I’m not going to go back to that painstaking process, but I have been rushing, and I’m realizing my work is getting sloppier.  So, more care.

I’m trying to make something similar to this, that I did years ago, but in a more subtle style.

Tis Spring

And love is in the air.  Frankly, I can think of nothing more healing than a partner in your life to support you, have fun with, grow old with. Or even a good cry at a romantic movie.

So, here’s the sketch…no name yet.

If this looks a little familiar, it should.  I took my Disco! dancer, and gave her a partner.  For those of you who are new to reading this blog, I’ll repost it.

So. love and happiness to all!

OMG….February Already!

A day or two late, I guess, I finally finished “Making Peace with January”.  So I’m late. Big deal.  At least it’s still winter.

The reason why I’m late is there has been a lot going on in my non-virtual life…mostly good.  Mostly.  The rest well…I can deal.  But I’m back to my art, and back to my healing, and looking into all sorts of options right now.

So, here’s “Making Peace with January”.  “Making Peace with February”  is in the planning.

So belated Happy Groundhog’s Day, Imbolc, Candlemas….or whatever you celebrate.  I like February, it means the beginning of baseball spring training, which to me is the sign that spring really is right around the corner!
