Coming Soon! Dogs!

I have a veterinarian hospital interested in my work, in a town that’s right over the state border.  That’s Brewster, NY.  If anyone of my readers is old enough to remember the TV show, “That Girl’, the Marlo Thomas character lived in Brewster before she moved to NYC.  It’s a very pleasant little town.

Anyway, enough of old TV shows.  The veterinarians are looking for artwork to decorate the waiting rooms…a cat room and a dog room.  As you can tell….I’ve got the cat room covered.  Dogs, not so much…haven’t drawn a lot of dogs.  After all, I have an inner cat, not an inner dog.

The only dog drawings I can think of are these:

In memorial of a good friend’s pet who left to go over the Rainbow Bridge:

And one I did as a commission for a charity. Unfortunately, nowhere can I find my digital copy of it.

But, back to cats….there’s one I forgot about.  It’s this one, called “Kitten”

Not one of my favorites, but here’s a closeup of the kitten:

So, expect me to be doing a lot of dog pictures soon.  Also, remember the Bott Shoppe I showed in in Mamaroneck, NY?  There’s going to be a Pet Art Show on April 11, at 172 East Boston Post Road. I will have a drawing of a cat in it.  Sorry, dog lovers.

Wasting No Time

I said I was eager to get back to the rainbow drawing.  As soon as I was finished with the pet portrait, I got right back on it. It looks, still, quite a bit like the smaller version, but I drew the rainbow in with a lot of white space, a la impressionism, to give it a feeling of light.  I had more fun with the clouds, too.  Although, still not realistic, they are tempestuous.

I realized in looking at rainbows since, they do mark  a clearing.  So, I pulled in some incoming yellow light underneath it.    So, Dorothy, you want to go “Over the Rainbow”?  Not me, that’s where the clouds are.

The idea for this drawing came to me as I passed through a forgotten railroad station on the way to Brewster, NY.  So, going back to its origins, I’ve named this piece, Rainbow Over the Tracks.

Finally, I think I’ve gotten it out of my system.
