• Happy St. Gertrude’s Day!

St. Gertrude of Nevilles to be precise.  Not St. Gertrude the Great, that’s another story. One thing about being born on St. Patrick’s Day…everyone asks if you’re Irish.  I’m not.  However, being born on the Patron Saint of Cat’s Day makes sense.  Anyone who has known me even a little while, knows I love cats.…

  • Snow way!!!

It’s the start of another late winter snowstorm. I’m also running out of ideas for winter themed drawings, for this season, at least. So,I am taking another hiatus from artwork. As spring appears to finally last more than a day or two, then I ‘m sure I’ll be back. In the meantime, here’s a winter…

  • Second time better

Here’s “Cloudy Day in the Park” again. Not only did I touch it up, I took a better photo! Another nor’easter coming our way. Grrrrr

  • And Changing My Mind Back…

It’s still wintry around here.  We had the bomb cyclone yesterday, gray skies today.  No daffodils.  No forsythia.  No crocus.  Spring is not in a hurry to get here. So, paper is on order and I worked on the cloudy day drawing I originally intended. So, is it moody…or is it just plain depressing.  I’m…

  • Changing My Mind

I’ve come to the realization that I only have one piece of m good paper, left! Even if I order it today, a good part of spring would be over. So, no cloudy day…waiting for the forsythia. After all, Spring goes by like a baby’s first year. Here’s a tiger lily in the sky picture.

  • In Case You Haven’t Noticed

I upgraded my blog. It’ll be my main site now, replacing the old one. Eventually, it will have my own domain name for it: roxannebaldwin.com I’ll get rid of those pesky WordPress ads, as well. However, redoing this site is complex. Right now, my mind is a complicated jungle gym.

  • Taking the Plunge

I’ve finally managed to cold call some galleries.  Surprising to me, no one was rude, and everyone gave me instructions as to how to submit samples. It made me feel as if I should have done this five years ago!  Then I think back, and realize, I was in NYC then, and competition was fierce. …

  • While We’re Waiting..

I did that cheerful early spring drawing, and now….IRL, we’re back to grey, dull, cloudy days.  Anything spring-like I’d have to fake, and that never turns out well.  So, I wonder, can I portray beauty in the dismal days? I once tried doing a painting of Park Avenue in New York City on a cloudy…

  • Rushing the Season (and Rushing the Post)

Spring moves by so fast, I wanted to get a jump on it.  The problem is, by the time I’ve managed to do a drawing of one stage of the season, spring is almost gone!  So, by the time I do a daffodil picture, the lilacs are already gone… My mother one year, greeted spring…
